Contacting a Patient
Our Information Desk located in the main entrance lobby of University Hospital will assist you in locating a patient at the hospital. From outside the hospital, please call the Information Desk at (210) 358-2158 for assistance.
Gift Shop
The Gift Shop is located in the
Main Entrance of the hospital. You will find
a variety of gift items, fresh flowers, cards,
magazines, postage stamps, over the counter
medications, snacks, candy and soft drinks.
The Baby & You Lactation Center is housed in
the Gift Shop and includes breast pumps for
sale or rent.
The Gift Shop is open Monday through
Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from
8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7
p.m.
Daily editions of the San
Antonio Express-News can be purchased in
the hospital Cafeteria or Gift Shop.
Purchasing Food for Patients
Guests visiting patients at University
Hospital are strongly encouraged not to bring
or buy food for patients. Patients are asked
to eat only what their doctors have ordered
and listed. If a patient eats foods that are
unauthorized, it could result in delays for
scheduled procedures or tests.
Sending Mail, Flowers and
Gifts
It is a good idea to first check
with the patient's nurse to make sure the patient
can receive flowers and/or gifts. Please make
sure that you give the florist or vendor the
patient's full name, room number and phone number
to make sure the item is delivered directly
to the patient. University Hospital volunteers
deliver mail and flowers each day.
Visiting Hours and Waiting
Areas
Please check with a unit nurse
about the visiting hours and authorized waiting
areas for the floor where the patient you are
visiting is staying.
