Trauma Research 

The Trauma Research Program's primary focus is to identify new and innovative ways to improve the care, management and treatment of trauma and critically ill patients.

What are the goals of trauma and critical care research?

  • To increase our knowledge and understanding in the care of trauma and critically ill patients.
  • To increase public awareness of trauma.
  • To optimize the care for the critically injured patient.
  • Allow patients and families the opportunity to take part in studies that may impact critical care in the future.

Where do trauma and critical care studies come from?

  • Investigator initiated studies, with a focus on medical issues that impact the South Texas patient population.
  • Industry sponsored national multicenter studies.
  • Federally funded grants through the National Institutes of Health.
