Constance Barone, MD, FAAP, FACS

Constance Barone, MD, FAAP, FACS

Constance M. Barone, MD, FACS is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery in the School of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She received her B.A. from Smith College in Northampton and her M.D. from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. She completed her general surgery residency at Temple University Hospital and her plastic surgery residency at New York University Medical Center. Further training included a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Barone came to the Health Science Center from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine, where she was a faculty member from 1992 to 2004. She served in many roles, including co-director of the Center for Craniofacial Disorders at the Children’s Hospital.

She is a proven leader and innovator of endoscopic techniques and holds a national as well as an international reputation in Plastic Surgery. She strongly believes in educating her patients so that they can play an active role in choosing the best procedure(s) that will fit their needs.

Her many awards and honors include numerous Best Doctors in America awards and America’s Top Surgeons in Plastic Surgery. She has been featured on Discovery Health, Good Morning America, Texas Monthly, San Antonio Magazine, SA Living, and Seventeen Magazine. With her husband, David F. Jimenez, MD, Dr. Barone has pioneered minimally invasive surgery for the congenital abnormality craniosynostosis. She and her husband created a multidisciplinary team to surgically treat disadvantaged children in the Philippines during the 1990s.
