Vital signs are physical signs that indicate an
individual is alive, such as heart beat, breathing
rate, temperature, and blood pressure. These signs
may be observed, measured, and monitored to assess
an individual's level of physical functioning.
Vital signs for a health system indicate whether the
organization's mission is alive and viable. They include
commitment to quality, focus on patient-centered care,
integration of advanced technology, demonstration of
community value and attainment of financial stability.
Much like human vital signs, these signs may also
be observed, measured and monitored to assess an
organization's level of functioning.
The purpose of this report is to provide you with a
snapshot of the health of our critical mission through
the vital signs of University Health System.
